POINTE

About the Course

Pointe is where dancers perform on the tips of their toes using specialized ballet shoes, creating an elegant and weightless appearance. It requires refined strength, balance, and training to ensure safety and effectiveness. Our pointe work is influenced by the Vaganova Russian method, emphasizing strong technique and artistry. Dancers in our Ballet III or IV programs, starting between ages 11 and 13, can begin pre-pointe training, which lasts 9 months to a year and focuses on conditioning and strengthening their feet and ankles. We prioritize safety, ensuring that dancers pass a specific pre-pointe evaluation performed by an outside specialized doctor and receive their official approval before advancing fully onto pointe. While pointe is an optional path for our ballet dancers, we strive to train them to a level where they can confidently choose to pursue it if they wish.
