HIP HOP
About the Course
Hip meaning present, and Hop meaning action; Hip-Hop is a dance that is a high-energy style that focuses on rhythm, bounce, and freestyle. Originating in New York during the 1970s, it grew out of African American communities and became a vital part of street culture. The movements are defined by sharp isolations, full-body movement, and a powerful connection to the beat of hip-hop music. Beyond just a dance form, Hip-Hop is tied to an entire cultural movement that includes DJing, EMCEE, grafitti, and B-Boying. In this class, students will develop their rhythm, creativity, and individuality through foundational techniques and freestyle practice.
